PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a protein, which has continued translation reaction for a long time in an acellular protein synthesis system, which is capable of being applicable to a reaction system having a large volume and showing a high synthetic efficiency, and further a method for performing the synthetic reaction and purification of the protein in the same container, and an apparatus for performing these methods. SOLUTION: This protein synthesis is performed by bringing a solution of a transcription and translation reaction or the translation reaction into contact with sol or gel containing substances consumed in the transcription and translation reaction or translation reaction in the acellular protein synthesis system.
