<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the relevance of a printer state display program to an electronic manual while keeping the printer state display program and the electronic manual independent of each other. <P>SOLUTION: A printer host for connection to a printer includes an electronic manual means for displaying the electronic manual about the printer, and a printer state information management means for acquiring the state information of the printer and, if a predetermined state arises, providing a display that matches the state.
