PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a decontamination system and method for radioactive contaminants which decontaminates surface contamination effectively and is superior in user-friendliness. SOLUTION: The decontamination system for radioactive contaminant comprises a hollow disk shape electrode 1, a ceramic-made disk shape grinder 2 attached on one surface of the electrode, an electrically conductive rotational axis 3 fixed coaxially with the electrode, a drive means 4 for rotationally driving the rotational axis and holding it by way of an insulator 13, a supply nozzle 8 of electrolytic liquid provided via a rotational universal coupling 7, by connecting with the hollow part formed inside the rotational axis, and a current supply terminal 11, provided freely rotationally to the rotational axis. The electrode has a plurality of holes 5 connecting with the hollow part inside the electrode, on the surface where the grinder is attached, and the hollow part in the rotational axis and the hollow part in the electrode are connected in the formation.
