PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately position a cap portion to a body in mounting a connecting rod. SOLUTION: An small end portion 4 placed on a first base 18 of this positioning device 10 is moved forward in the direction of a second cylinder 56 by a first positioning member 40 which is displaced under the operation of a first cylinder 32. The body 6 moved forward following it is locked and positioned by a third positioning portion 72 provided on a third base 22. On the other hand, the rod 58 of the second cylinder 56 is moved backward and a second positioning member 62 thrusts the cap portion 7 along therewith.
