PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a culture apparatus designed to stably create high-temperature and high intense heat environment by compact and simple apparatus constitution and efficiently carry out culture of microorganisms preferring the high temperature and high intense heat environment and to provide a method for sterilizing the same. SOLUTION: The culture apparatus is equipped with a culture vessel 12 for holding a culture solution 11, a gas feed means 16 for feeding a gas into the culture solution, a stirring means 17 for stirring the culture solution, a culture solution feed means 18 for feeding the new culture solution to the culture vessel, a culture solution discharge means 29 for discharging the useless culture solution from the culture vessel and an electromagnetic induction heating means 13. The culture vessel is provided with an inductively heated part for generating heat by electromagnetic induction from the electromagnetic induction heating means. Furthermore, the apparatus is provided with a temperature measuring means 20 for measuring the temperature of the culture solution in the culture vessel and a control means 14 for controlling the electromagnetic induction heating means based on the measured temperature with the temperature measuring means and regulating the quantity of heating.
