PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide bit interleaver and de-interleaver apparatus, methods and processor control code for use in MIMO (Multiple-input multiple-output) communications systems, in particular MIMO systems employing OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing). SOLUTION: In an interleaver, in a MIMO OFDM communication system including a plurality of transmission antennas, configured to interleave a block of N data bits including data for a plurality of OFDM symbols by implementing first and second interleave functions, at least one interleave function being configured to interleave data bits between blocks of Ncbps bits, each of the OFDM symbols is defined by the block of the Ncbps bits.
