DIGITAL BROADCAST RECEIVER AND METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a detailed message by a digital broadcast receiver in case of a work key non-setting error.

SOLUTION: A channel selecting means 102 selects a desired program from a digital broadcast signal where an ECM and an EMM are multiplexed. A separating means 121 separates the ECM and EMM. AN EMM decoding means 122 decodes the EMM. A 1st key is obtained from the decoded EMM. AN ECM decoding means 122c decodes the separated ECM by using the 1st key. A 2nd key is obtained from the decoded EMM and decoded ECM. A view permitting/inhibiting decision means 122 decides whether the program is can be viewed. A system controller 105 communicates with an information providing server through a network interface section 110 when a work key is not set to make an OSD display processing section 106 generate an image for displaying provided information.
