<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a branch pipe joint which is excellent in its appearance and the water tightness, and further to provide its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The branch pipe joint 1 for connecting the branch pipe to a main pipe from the direction almost perpendicular to the main pipe comprises a main cylinder element 2 which has an aperture hole 10 formed on the side portion thereof and can be connected to the main pipe, a main cover element 3 which has an aperture hole 16 having the diameter larger than that of the aperture hole 10 formed at the position corresponding to that of the aperture hole 10 formed on the side portion and has the inside diameter nearly equal to the outside diameter of the main cylinder element 2, and into which the main cylinder element 2 is inserted, a branch cylinder element 4 which is connected to the main cylinder element 2 in the direction almost perpendicular to the main cylinder element 2 in the state communicated by the aperture hole 10 and can be connected to the branch pipe, and a branch cover element 5 which has an inside diameter nearly equal to the outside diameter of the branch cylinder element 4, and into which the branch cylinder element 4 is inserted. A joining portion 23 for joining the branch cylinder element 4 to the main cylinder element 2 is provided on one end of the branch cylinder element 4. The joining portion 23 has a flange 26 having an abutting surface 28 formed along the outer peripheral surface 17 of the aperture hole 10.
