PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool, detecting the defective attitude of a workpiece delivered from a loader to a workpiece support means even if the workpiece is of a special form not to obtain a seating surface. SOLUTION: This machine tool includes: a workpiece support means 3 supporting the workpiece W; a machining means for machining the supported workpiece W; and a work defective attitude detecting means 19. The workpiece defective attitude detecting means 19 is a means for detecting the workpiece defective attitude when the workpiece W supported on the work support means 3 is different from a correct workpiece attitude. The work defective attitude detecting means 19 has a forward and backward member 20 freely moving forward and backward in the workpiece delivery direction, and detects the workpiece defective attitude from the forward and backward position of the forward and backward member 20 caused when the attitude is different from a predetermined workpiece W attitude.
