<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic program guide (EPG), to a viewer, for searching for a specific program using a query. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method for operating the electronic program guide (EPG) when a viewer uses one or more numerical keys also corresponding to one or more related letters so as to input data, the method including steps of: constructing a query, based on inputted data, taking into account a case where inputted data may occasionally represent numbers or letters relating to numerical keys used for inputting the data; and identifying an arbitrary EPG data item that satisfies the query. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
