<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle position display device capable of detecting the position of a railroad vehicle even when any fixed track circuit is not present, and realizing the railroad operation with less dependency on a ground installation. <P>SOLUTION: The coordinates of the global coordinate system of the present vehicle position is measured by utilizing a GPS satellite 6, and a ground installation closest to the starting point side with respect to the vehicle position from a track management information DB1014 and its mileage are obtained based on the measurement of position. Next, the vehicle position and the coordinates of the map coordinate system of the ground installation closest to the starting point side are obtained to read the track vector data R from a track layer 1012a of map information DB1012, and the length Lm along the track 5 between the vehicle position and the ground installation closest to the starting point side is calculated. The real distance Lr is calculated from the scale size of the map, and added to the mileage of the ground installation closest to the starting point side to calculate the distance of the vehicle position.
