PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect brightness variations precisely, quantatively and quickly regardless of an area and the number of the brightness variations; and to make quality decision. SOLUTION: An image inspection device is provided with: an original image memory 21 for storing output image data from an image sensor 11; a filtering processing means 22 for acquiring a shading component removed data which are obtained by removing shading components from the output image data; a primary processing memory 23 for storing the shading component removed data; a block division/addition means 24 for acquiring block division/addition data by dividing the shading component removed data into blocks of a size of n×m, and adding the shading component removed data within a block; a secondary processing memory 25 for storing the block division addition data; a statistical processing means 26 for calculating an average value, a maximum value, and a minimum value of the block division/addition data; and a quality decision means 27 for making quality decision using the calculated average, maximum and minimum values; and a decision result memory 28 for storing information regarding the good and bad blocks.
