PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for detecting defective portions of a casting member capable of highly accurate inspection, while heightening inspection speed. SOLUTION: The method for detecting defects of the casting member has a step for performing eddy current flaw detection by scanning the casting member 5 surface by an eddy current flaw detector 1, and acquiring position information of defects 55a, 55b existing inside the casting member 5; a step for performing ultrasonic flaw detection by an ultrasonic flaw detector 2 relative to each defect 55a, 55b whose position information is acquired, and acquiring information on the depth position and the shape of each defect 55a, 55b; and a step for determining the quality of the casting member 5 based on the information on the defects 55a, 55b acquired by the eddy current flaw detection and the ultrasonic flaw detection.
