PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthquake resistant gravestone superior in ease of work, while preventing a rod stone from overturning and collapsing by swinging, vibration or wind force such as an earthquake and a typhoon, by firmly joining the rod stone and an upper base stone. SOLUTION: This gravestone is constituted by superposing the rod stone 4 on the upper base stone 3. A substantially dovetail groove-shaped recessed part 5 having a locking groove part 5a on both sides, is arranged on an abutting surface of the upper base stone 3 with the rod stone 4. A substantially dovetail tenon-shaped locking body 7 having on both sides a locking projection part 7b locked on the locking groove parts 5a, is integrally arranged with the rod stone 4 on a bottom surface of the rod stone 4. The locking body 7 is formed so that a width between the locking projection parts 7b is smaller than a maximum width between the locking groove parts 5a of the recessed part 5 and larger than an opening width on the locking groove part 5a side of the recessed part 5, and that the locking projection parts 7b can be inserted from the locking groove part 5a side of the recessed part 5.
