PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a titanium oxide particle powder comprising nanostructures, which can be easily handled without deactivation of the characteristics of nanoparticles. SOLUTION: The titanium oxide particle powder comprises nanostructures which are thin films, spherical bodies, or their fragments, constituted of primary particles having diameters of≤30 nm, or a mixture thereof. The titanium oxide particle powder is obtained by spraying a raw material aqueous solution containing a water-soluble salt of an element constituting the nanostructures and a third inorganic salt, then charging the generated droplets together with a reaction gas into a high temperature site so as to dry and thermally decompose, recovering the formed particles, and removing only the third inorganic salt by washing.
