PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for predicting an interference in welding and a method for designing a welding holder using the same system, by which system and method, the interference of a welding tool with a welding holder is not caused even when three dimensional design shape data differ from the actual shape of the welding tool. SOLUTION: The system for predicting the interference in welding predicts beforehand the existence or absence of the interference of the welding tool 5 with the welding holder 2 during the movement of the welding tool 5 along a preset path when a required portion of a workpiece 1 fixed to the welding holder 2 is welded while moving the welding tool 5 along the preset path. The actual tool shape 5' represented by three-dimensional data is achieved by measuring the actual shape of the welding tool 5. The existence or absence of the interference of the movement locus of the tool with the welding holder 2 is predicted by achieving the movement locus of the tool when the actual tool shape 5' has been moved along the preset path.
