<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for processing an image which can perform desirable image correction to a plurality of object regions by a simple operation even when there are a plurality of object regions in which different correction method are required in an input image. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for processing the image includes an image input part 101 which inputs image information, a region setting part 102 which detects whether the input image information includes a preset object and sets the detected region, a region determination part 103 for determining the type of the region for each set region, and an image correction part 106 which performs the image correction to the set each region based on the determined type. The image correction part has an image correction method planning part 103 which plans the candidate of the image correction method when the probability of the determination outputted from the region determination part does not satisfy a predetermined threshold value in any region set by the region setting part, and a correction part 105 which proposes the correction method for the region to be corrected and asks the operator's instruction.
