PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thrust bearing capable of reducing abrasion caused by remaining foreign matters, and inhibiting the generation of flaking, seizure or the like by securing an upper limit of a size of the foreign matters remaining on a surface of bearing rings. SOLUTION: In this thrust bearing 10 wherein a plurality of rolling elements 12 are mounted between track surfaces 11a of the pair of bearing rings 11 axially opposite to each other rollably in the circumferential direction in a state of being retained in pockets 13a of the retainer 13, an average diameter of the remaining foreign matters on surfaces of the bearing rings 11 is measured by implementing emission spectral analysis by discharge to a measured face excluding the track surfaces 11a of the bearing rings 11, to secure that the measured value is not over the predetermined upper limit value (30μm).
