摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To converge the number of revolutions into target number of revolutions in a short time when starting an engine. SOLUTION: An electronic control unit (ECU) 10 of the engine 1 performs control of the number of revolutions of either of control of the number of revolutions of intake amount for controlling the number of revolutions of the engine to target number of revolutions by adjusting opening of an electronic throttle valve 16 of the engine in accordance with the number of revolutions when starting the engine and control of the number of revolutions at ignition time for controlling the number of revolutions of the engine to target number of revolutions by adjusting ignition time of the engine. After starting the engine, the ECU performs the operation for causing lag of ignition time by predetermined amount to heat catalyst and reducing this lag amount gradually and sets high reduction speed of lag amount at ignition time for heating catalyst when it controls the number of revolutions at ignition time so that lag amount becomes zero in a short time. Consequently, interference of the control of the number of revolutions at ignition time with the operation for heating catalyst is prevented to converge the number of revolutions of the engine into target number of revolutions in a short time.
