PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffer device for an elevator, in which maintenance/inspection work of a landing door device or a car door device can be easily carried out without damaging a car. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a buffer base 7 fixed to a bottom part of a shaft pit 5 to be capable of falling, a buffer 8 for normal operation of the elevator provided at an upper end part of the buffer base, a buffer 9 for maintenance and inspection work of the elevator provided on one side part of the buffer base, a pivotal shaft mechanism 10 provided between the buffer base and the shaft pit to rotate the buffer base to the pit, a fastening part 11 for normal operation provided on one side lower end part of the buffer base to fix and hold the buffer base in a raised state, and a fastening part 13 for maintenance and inspection work provided on the other side upper end part of the buffer base to fix and hold the buffer base in a fallen state.
