PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moisturizing method for the interior of a head cap which permits the protection of a discharge opening formed in a liquid discharge head mounted on an image forming device against blocking involved in drying. SOLUTION: The image forming device comprises the head cap 26 which block outside air to the discharge opening by covering the periphery of a discharge opening face 25 in which the discharge opening is opened when the liquid discharge head 12 having the discharge opening to discharge a liquid is not in use and forms an image on a printing medium by discharging a liquid from the discharge opening. The image forming device comprises a secondary battery or a fuel battery 33 to operate the image forming device, and a passage 38 to guide water caused with the operation of the fuel battery 33 into the head cap 26, and can moisturize the interior of the head cap when the liquid discharge head 12 is not in use.
