Weight detecting device for microwave ovens

The device has a weight detecting unit (40) supported at an end and detecting a weight based on the force applied to its free end by a weight sensor (22) of elastic material. A support unit (41) supports the unit (40) at a position spaced apart from a top plate (25) of an interior casing (11) of a microwave oven. A shaft (23) transmits external force to the free end of the sensor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) microwave oven (b) a method of detecting a weight of food using a microwave oven.
