Production of electrodes comprises covering at least one zone of an aluminum foil as electrode material (1) with an etch resistant coating (7) and/or a protective screen in an etching cell; and cutting and stamping electrodes from the electrode material so that the non-etched zone forms an edge strip of the electrode. An Independent claim is also included for the electrode produced. Preferred Features: The coating is a lacquer or artificial resin applied by spraying or daubing using a mask (8). The electrode material is anodically oxidized after etching.
