1,187,786. Feeding bottles. WEST CO. 1 Aug., 1967 [2 Aug., 1966], No. 35282/67. Heading A5X. [Also in Division B8] A sterilised package for a feeding bottle nipple and its attached retaining ring includes a container in the form of a cup portion with a cylindrical skirt surrounding the ring the skirt having means to prevent the ring and nipple falling out when a sealing member across the mouth of the skirt is removed. When the package is so opened, it may be inverted above a feeding bottle and the ring screwed on the latter without removing the container. Manual contact with the nipple and ring is thus avoided and sterility maintained. The skirt may have a channel 204 engaged by a bead 206 on the ring and be corrugated as at 160 for engagement, by projections 162 on the ring which prevent relative rotation between ring and container. In one embodiment, the sealing member is a push-in, cap 210, sealed to a container flange 202 by adhesive which permits removal and replacement after use and re-sterilisation. In another and expendible form, Figs. 1-9a (not shown), a flat disc, the inside surface of which is metal foil and the outside of paper is permanently sealed to the flange. It has an annular slit through the foil and, optionally through part only of the paper thickness. This permits gas sterilisation and facilitates tearing open the package. Both closures have gripping tabs.
