<p>The tension of the weft yarn on a jet loom is controlled by deflecting it with a movable tensioning element. The position (S) of the tensioning element is controlled according to a time profile (23) to give the required tension profile. This consists of an initial phase (11), in which the element moves with increasing velocity (V) from rest (111) to maximum (113) and then reduces (121) to a constant phase (13). An independent claim is also included for a jet loom, especially an air jet loom, that includes a weft tensioning element with a position profile (23) that can be adjusted to the tension profile. The profile (23) can include constant, linear, hyperbolic and trigonometric functions and is asymmetric. The element is driven through a controller by an electric motor, by an electro-magnet or mechanically.</p> |
