A steering apparatus (1) comprises a bearing (21) for supporting a pinion shaft (4) so as to be rotatable and a high-rigidity member (44; 44A; 45A, 45B; 48A, 48B; 50; 50A; 51) for holding the bearing (21) in a state where it is positioned with respect to a housing (11). The housing (11) comprises cylindrical first and second housings (12; 13) whose respective ends (12a; 13a) are fitted to each other. The first and second housings (12; 13) respectively comprise first and second receiving sections (42; 43) directly or indirectly receiving an outer ring (37) of the bearing (21) in an axial direction. The outer ring (37) of the bearing (21) is held between the high-rigidity member (44; 44A; 45A, 45B; 48A, 48B; 50; 50A; 51) and the second receiving section (43), so that the axial movement of the bearing (21) relative to the first and second housings (12; 13) is regulated. |
