The serigraphic markings (39), LCD panels (38) and instrument pointers (36) are illuminated, via light guides (44,46,48), by luminous diodes (50,52,54) on the plate face, which also carries the LCD units and instrument movements (32). Associated electronic components (64) are mounted on a PCB (62) carried, with external plug-in connections (66), on a rear cover (20) snap-fitting (22;24) into the front case (14), securing the support plate. The e.g. polymeric support plate (18) carries rear-mounted analogue instruments (32) e.g. speedometer, rev-counter, fuel gauge, etc., the spindles penetrating the plate, with pointers (36) swinging over serigraphically applied dial markings (39) on the plate front. Digital indications are provided by LCD units (38) for e.g. time of day, temperature, etc., and illuminated tell-tales provide alarms and other information. Conducting tracks (42) for associated connections are applied directly to the plate, e.g. serigraphically, and extend into the electronic module (60) through plug connectors (68,70) - opt. by a flexible extension sheet on the PCB. In another variant, all the electronic components are directly mounted on the support plate rear. The use of electroluminescent sheets for illumination is also described. |
