A silent chain 1 comprises a number of inner link plates 3a,3b,3c,4a,4b, each having a pair of teeth and a pair of pin holes, said chain 1 made up of guide link rows GL and joint link rows JL arranged alternately and connected by pins 6, the guide link rows having guide plates 5 arranged at both outermost sides of each guide link row GL and a central stack 3a,3b,3c of toothed inner link plates arranged at an intermediate location widthwise of the chain, and the joint link rows JL comprising a stack 4a,4b of toothed inner link plates located between each guide plate and the central stack. The central stack of the guide link row preferably comprises three inner link plates, while each stack of the joint link row comprises two inner link plates. The arrangement aims to improve stress distribution when the chain is driving or driven. |
