The tool comprises two halves(4,5) which form the contors of both sides of the component to be produced. In the first tool half there is at least one punch(6) which, during the molding stage can be moved into or through the molding to remove material(2a) and create an opening. Each punch(6) has the shape of an opening to be produced. The second tool half(5) may have an opening opposite each punch into which the latter can drive molding material. Openings have an undercut edge. The punch dimensions allow it to penetrate into each opening. An alternative tool design has a counter punch(7) instead of an opening and the two punches can move towards and away from each other. Teeth(8,9) around the periphery of each punch cut through the molding material and teeth in the opposing punches are offset relative to each other. Punch and counter punch are conically tapered from the tool surfaces towards the molding. Tool halves are heated to solidify the material. An independent claim is included for a process for manufacturing molded products with one or more openings which involves: a) filling the space between the two parts of the claimed tool with molding material(1a); b) solidifying the material; c) moving a punch into the filled tool cavity to reduce the material in the punch area and/or before or after the solidification push the material between the punch and second tool half(5) out of the molding to form an opening in the latter. The component is made from a compound.
