An evaluation unit has a deflection mirror (4) which deflects the outgoing beam from the light source so that it is deflected onto the optical axis (12) of the detector and projected onto the location to be detected. The reflected light is deflected by the mirror (4) and directed to the detector. The deflection mirror is arranged at the lower end of a holder (13) whose height can be adjusted.
