1,006,867. Draw-string bags. COLODENSE Ltd. July 31, 1963 [July 31, 1962], No. 29392/62. Heading B8K. [Also in Division B5] A draw-string bag 9 (Fig. 3) includes two draw strings 3 each enclosed in a tubular passage 6 adjacent the bag mouth, one end of each draw string being attached to one edge or adjacent one edge of the bag. The other end of each draw string, which is of a length substantially the same as the width of the bag, may be exposed by cut-away portions of the tubular passages, or, as in the described embodiment, may be attached to the bag in a detachable portion 12 defined by perforations 2. The bags may be made from a web of flexible material (see Divisions B4-B5), or from a flattened or pleated tube slit along its length. Ribbons may be cut from the edges of a web to form two draw strings, e.g. strips 18 (Fig. 11). The material of the web may be polyethylene and the bag is preferably formed by heat sealing although other means, e.g. stitching, may be employed. Instead of being heated sealed transversely (Fig. 2, not shown) the folded web may be transversely sealed by parallel seams of stitches. Preferable dimensions are given in the Specification. |
