1277133 Linkwork W A BACHOFEN 22 Sept 1969 [23 Sept 1968] 46586/69 Heading F2K Cyclically varying speed rotation is imparted to a shaft 1 by superimposing the oscillations of a pendulum 7 about the axis of rotation of the shaft 1 upon a uniform input rotation of drive means 6 mounted on the pendulum 7, a control member 8 rotatably mounted on the pendulum and driven from the shaft 1 co-operating with at least one fixed point or guide to cause the pendulum to oscillate. The motor 6 drives the shaft 1 via belt gearing 3, 4, 5, and further belt gearing 9, 10, 11 connects the shaft 1 to the control member 8. In Fig. 1, the control member is a crank, the crankpin 12 of which engages in a fixed guide 13 the longitudinal axis of which intersects the shaft 1 axis. In a modification, Fig. 3, the guide 17 is pivoted to one end of a rocking lever 20 having a fixed central pivot 18. The other end of lever 20 has a fork 21 engaged by a pin 19b on the pendulum. This maintains the guide 17 parallel to the pendulum longitudinal axis and is stated to provide a true sinusoidal relation between the shaft 1 rotation and the pendulum deflection. In Fig. 5 (not shown) the crank-pin (12) is pivoted to one end of a radius arm (25) having a fixed pivot (26).
