<p>Rubber polymers of controlled mol. wt. are made from a conjugated diolefins (I) with an 'Alfin' catalyst (II) using a non-conjugated di- or tri-olefinic C 5-10 hydrocarbon (III) to influence the mol. wt. of the polymer. (I) is butadiene-1,3 or isoprene or both. (II) is 0.5-3.0 pts/100 monomers and is formed from an alkali metal halide, a sodium alcoholate and a sodium alkene. (III) is used in proportion 0.5-7.0 pts/100 pts. monomers. It is pref. cishexadiene-1,4 or 3-methyl pentadiene-1,4.</p> |
