<p>Perfluoro beta thiaglutaric acid its ester and amide derivatives. G5-. Are intermediates for F-containing polymers. They have the formula YCF2SCF2Y (where Y is -COOH, -COOR or -CONH2 and R is C1-6 alkyl or fluoroalkyl). Perfluoro-beta-thiaglutaric acid is prepared by the oxidation of 2,2,5,5-tetrafluoro-3,4-dichlorothiolene-3 with an oxidation agent such as KMnO4 at 25-50 degrees C at atm. pressure. The diester ROOCCF2SCF2COOR is prepared by reacting perfluoro-beta-thiaglutaric acid with an alcohol or monofunctional fluoralkyl alcohol ROH. The amide S(CF2CONH2)2 is prepared by reacting the diester with NH3. 2,2,5,5,-tetrafluoro-3,4-dichlorothiolene-3 is prepared by reacting tetrachlorothiophene with AgF2. Polyamide are obtained by reacting the esters with diamines. Polyesters are obtained by reacting the acid with polyhydric alcohols. Fluoralkyd resins are prepared by reacting the acid with glycerol or glycols.</p> |
