There is movement status detecting means (5) that includes an electric power generation detecting circuit (51) for detecting the voltage of an electric power from electric power generating means (4) and that also includes a determining part (52) for determining, from the voltage of the generated electric power from the electric power generation detecting circuit (51), whether a radio controlled clock (1) is moving. When the movement status detecting means (5) outputs a non- movement detecting signal indicative of no movement of the radio controlled clock (1), a reception part (2) is activated to receive a standard radio wave so as to correct the time displayed on time displaying means (3). Since the standard radio wave is received during no movement of the radio controlled clock (1), precise time information can be acquired and further the probability of successful reception can be improved, whereby the reliability of reception of the standard radio wave can be improved.
