The invention relates to an electric heating system. The inventive system comprises at least one heating body (1) which converts current into heat and at least one thermostat (6) which is disposed in a case. According to the invention, signals from the thermostat, which are intended to connect and/or control the heating power of the heating body (1) in a contactless manner, in particular by means of radio waves, can be transmitted to a receiver (5) of a control device (S) which is individually allocated to the heating body (1). Moreover, a functional relationship can be established between the thermostat and the control device with the transmission and reading of identification signals, owing to the fact that means (9, 10) are provided in the thermostat (6) and/or on the control device (S) that can be activated when moved closer together, in order to transmit and/or read the identification signals in a learn-enable operation. In addition to the receiver, the control device can be disposed on the heating body or at a distance from same in the power source thereof.
