The bolt has a metallic insert (11) comprising a solid closing tooth (18) that receives a stop ratchet. A plastic flange (12) has an abutment (13) to maintain the ratchet in contact with the bolt during pivoting of the bolt beyond its closing position. The overrun of the abutment is limited to an extension of the flange. The flange has an abutment (14) that maintains the ratchet in contact with the bolt in an open position. An independent claim is also included for a lock comprising a bolt.
