PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a corrosion prevention method for metal airtight container, in which a cause of corrosion is removed by efficiently washing the gasket part as the airtight boundary of a cask, remaining water quantity is minimized before drying of cask cavity (whole inside where a fuel assembly is placed), the drying load is lowered in later processes, and drying performance is improved. SOLUTION: The metal airtight container comprises: a container body 1 of which the open end is provided with a lid attaching part 1a; an upper lid 2 tightened to the lid attaching part 1a; and a seal member 3 intervening between the lid attaching part 1a and the upper lid 2. A spacer bolt 5 is penetrated vertically into the upper lid 2 and its lower end is projected from the lower surface of the upper lid 2 to contact the lid attaching part 1a so that a gap G to be a flow path for draining washing water injected to the seal member 3 is formed between the upper lid 2 and the attaching part 1a.
