PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out excellent carbonization at all times even if a moisture content of an object to be treated fluctuates. SOLUTION: The object to be treated in a state of moisture is dried by a dryer 2 and then introduced into a carbonizing furnace 1. The moisture content of the object to be treated after being dried by the dryer 2 is measured and heat quantity supplied to the dryer 2 is adjusted in response to the moisture content. The adjustment of the heat quantity is carried out by adjusting the amount of hot-blow supplied from a hot-blow generating furnace 5 to the dryer 2. The adjustment of the amount of the hot-blow is carried out by adjusting a circulated hot-blow amount in a hot-blow circulation path 4 circulating from the hot-blow generating furnace 5, passing through the dryer 2 and arriving at the hot-blow generating furnace 5.
