A laboratory fermentation vessel has a removable valve for the insertion and removal of culture media. The valve has a housing (2) comprising a movable off-centre semi-submerged tube (2) with a passage. In a first presentation has an open aperture and in a second presentation is closed. The free inlet is an extension of the valve flow passage and the tubular duct are parallel within the valve housing (2). The passage and duct are free to swivel between an open presentation and closed presentation. The valve housing has an attachment fitting that engages with the fermenter housing.
