<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation method of a new chemical reactor capable of cleaning a nitrogen oxide at a low temperature at a high efficiency with a low consumption power by enhancing a cleaning efficiency and reducing an amount of current required for decomposition of the nitrogen oxide by easily adsorbing the nitrogen oxide by separately forming adsorption decomposition reaction sites relative to oxygen molecules and nitrogen oxide molecules, for example, when excessive oxygen exists in a burned exhaust gas, and simultaneously by suppressing a performance deterioration by re-activating the chemical reactor by performing energization after adsorption of a constant amount of oxygen. <P>SOLUTION: In the chemical reactor, a chemical reaction part including (1) a reduction phase comprising particulates of transition metal becoming a reaction field, (2) a space for introducing a substance to be treated to the reaction field, (3) an oxygen deficiency concentration part formed in an ion conductor crystal structure, i.e., the reaction field, (4) an electron conduction phase for feeding an electron required for ionizing an oxygen molecule adsorbed to the oxygen deficiency concentration part of the ion conductor, and (5) an ion conduction phase becoming a route for conveying out the oxygen molecule ionized by oxygen deficiency of the ion conductor to the outside of the reaction system is formed as basic units. In the operation method of the chemical reactor, by using the chemical reactor, an ability for ionizing the oxygen adsorbed to the chemical reaction part and inhibiting the reaction and for removing it is activated by energizing a current or applying an electric field between a cathode and an anode or reducing or heat-treating the chemical reaction part under reduced pressure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
