<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strut for a handrail capable of securely avoiding damage to the handrail due to entry of water while maintaining strength with lightweight and the handrail using the strut. <P>SOLUTION: Since the entire part of the strut 3 is formed of a solid member, water can be securely prevented from entering or penetrating into the strut 3 and damage to the handrail 1 due to the entry of water can be securely avoided. Also, since the horizontal cross section of the strut 3 is formed in an approximately H-shape thought its entire part is formed of the solid member, the strut can be formed lightweight in the same manner as those struts simply formed in square or cylindrical shapes and conventional struts formed in hollow cylindrical bodies.
