PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power converter low in loss and high in efficiency with respect to a wide-range DC input voltage, and reducible in noise, size and weight. SOLUTION: The power converter comprises a series circuit of switching elements 2, 3 connected to both ends of a DC power supply 1, an insulated transformer 4A, and control circuits 14, 16. The power converter rectifies and smoothes a voltage generated at a winding 4a by alternately turning on and off a main switching element 2 and a sub-switching element 3 by using each control circuit, and feeds the voltage to a load 7. The insulated transformer 4A comprises a primary-side winding 4d, the main control circuit 14 turns on and off the main switching element 2 so that a DC voltage fed to the load 7 becomes constant with a voltage of the winding 4d as a signal voltage, and the sub-control circuit 16 turns on the sub-switching element 3 when both-end voltages of the sub-switching element 3 are lowered to a reference voltage or lower. With a power supply voltage of the main control circuit 14 as a voltage obtained by rectifying and smoothing the voltage of the winding 4d, a power supply voltage of the sub-control circuit 16 can be obtained by utilizing the on-operation of the main switching element 2.
