PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system capable of receiving an input of information required for realizing a new function from a user even when the new function is mounted on an optical unit, and to provide a camera body and the optical unit. SOLUTION: The camera system is equipped with the optical unit and the camera body. The optical unit is equipped with a photographing optical system, a storage in which screen information expressing an input screen is stored, a screen transmitter for transmitting the screen information, an information receiver for receiving information that has been input according to the input screen, and a function execution section for executing prescribed functions based on the information received in the information receiving section. The camera body is equipped with a connector on which the optical unit is detachably mounted, an image processor for applying a predetermined image processing to image data representing a photogenic subject light that forms an image through the photographing optical system of the optical unit, a screen receiver for receiving the screen information, a displaying and inputting section for displaying an input screen represented by the screen information and for receiving an information input according to the input screen, and an information transmitter for transmitting the information that has been input in the displaying and inputting section.
