PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent percolation of ink from a nozzle opening by opening the channel from an ink chamber to an ink supply chamber in correspondence with ink consumption thereby supplying ink without applying an undue negative pressure to an ink jet recording head and by generating a negative pressure at the meniscus portion in the nozzle opening of the ink jet recording head. SOLUTION: An ink supply chamber 203 where an ink chamber 202 is held at the upper part and a cavity and ink are held at the lower part is formed by locating a valve 201 in the middle of a container having an ink supply port in the bottom face.
