PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP capable of restraining occurrence of non-effective power and improving reflectance of a dielectric layer concurrently, in the case two electrodes covered with a dielectric layer exist at a rear substrate side. SOLUTION: Of the plasma display panel composed of a front plate 102 and a rear plate 103 arrayed in parallel with each other, with a discharge space in between, provided with a pair of display electrodes at a discharge space side of the front plate 102, and data electrodes 128 as well as an auxiliary electrode 141 at a discharge space side of the rear plate 103, a dielectric layer, formed in contact with the data electrodes 128 and the auxiliary electrode 141 is formed at the rear plate 103 side. The dielectric layer has a first dielectric layer 131, and a second dielectric layer 130 with a dielectric constant lower than that of the dielectric area. The second dielectric layer 130 is intercalated between the data electrodes 128 and the auxiliary electrode 141, and the first dielectric layer 131 is located at a position nearer to the discharge space than the second dielectric layer 130.
