A floor or roof deck comprises a framework of horizontal steel beams 5, 6 with steel lugs 10 projecting from the side-edges of the framework such that when two similar decks are laid sideby-side the lugs of the abutting side-edges engage above or below a rigid part of the frame work, e.g. side beam 5, of the other deck. As shown, recesses are provided in the ceiling board 8 beneath the side-edge beam 5 to accommodate lugs of an adjacent deck and a flange 9 welded to end beams 4 is adapted to rest on a supporting structure.
