<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical information recording medium which can record information with appropriate laser power and is excellent in reproduction durability and a method for manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The optical information recording medium is formed with a recording layer on a substrate, wherein the recording layer contains a phthalocyanine dye; the ratio (k/T) of the extinction coefficient of the recording layer and the decomposition initiation temperature T (°C) of the phthalocyanine dye is ≥1.20×10<SP>-4</SP>; an intermediate layer is formed adjacently to an either upper side or lower side of the recording layer; and the light transmittance of the intermediate layer at a wavelength 405 nm is ≥55%.
