PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner with improved convenience, equipped with a battery for feeding electric power to an electric blower. SOLUTION: When the voltage of a secondary battery 15 is larger than the switch voltage, the electric blower 2 is controlled in a normal mode. When the voltage of the secondary battery 15 is the switch voltage, a control means 16 shuts off power feeding to the electric blower 2 from the secondary battery 15, and if a spare battery switch 17 is operated while the power feeding is shut off, the electric blower 2 is driven in a spare battery mode for feeding electric power from the secondary battery 15 to the electric blower 2 to the discharge terminating voltage. In this way, one secondary battery 15 is used in two separate modes, and therefore, such a situation can be securely prevented as the cleaning has to be terminated halfway because the capacity of the secondary battery 15 unexpectedly becomes vacant, and the convenience can be improved.
