PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a metal mold for molding a honeycomb structure, superior in moldability of the provided honeycomb structure, by smoothly forming a slit groove without damaging a rotary tool, even if the rotary tool having the thickness of 150μm or less is used. SOLUTION: This method comprises a plurality of supply holes for supplying a material and the slit groove 2 communicating with these supply holes, arranged in a grating shape and molding the material in a honeycomb shape; and manufactures the metal mold for molding the honeycomb structure having the respective slit grooves 2 having the groove depth of ten times or more of its groove width. The slit grooves 2 are processed by grinding or cutting a metal mold raw material by using the rotary tool having the thickness of 150μm or less. A plurality of slit grooves 2 arranged in parallel in the same direction, are processed at a processing interval of at least two pitches or more from the adjacent slit grooves 2.
